Raymond Frederick "Ray" Harryhausen [June 29, 1920 – May 7, 2013]
'As a sculptor and film producer I have always felt strongly that this particular moment of heroism and sheer suspense should be told for the world to see. Recognizing this long held ambition , required an artist who would share my passion for the subject matter and translate that passion into a masterpiece . I wanted a sculptor who could capture the essence of the man and his story , I wanted someone to portray Livingstone the hero and the scale of his almighty foe. I wanted Gareth Knowles.'
American visual effects creator, writer, and producer
Ray said of the Livingstone story "To worship a hero should not really be considered in the fickle world of "fashion" for it is one of the basics of inspiration and thus a timeless concept."
Ray sadly passed away this year, I miss him dearly, not only was he my hero but he also became my great friend.
